CPC: What is a Cell Processing Center?

A cell culture processing center, or CPC (Cell Processing Center), is a specialized facility for culturing cells used in autologous adipose-derived stem cell therapy. CPCs are essential for the proper cultivation of these stem cells. Overseas, such facilities are commonly referred to as CPFs (Cell Processing Facilities).

In stem cell therapy, cultured stem cells must be alive when administered. This is because cells that are not alive are ineffective when administered into the body. Therefore, the higher the survival rate of the cells, the higher the rate of fixation in the body.

When culturing stem cells, it is also important not only to increase the number of cells, but also to select cells of appropriate size that can migrate smoothly through the patient's blood vessels after being administered into the body. The CO2 incubator is a device that plays an important role in cell culture, injecting carbon dioxide (CO2) and maintaining constant temperature, humidity, and CO2 concentration to allow cells to grow in an environment close to their physiological conditions.

This allows the cells to grow while maintaining optimal pH levels and internal body temperatures, without drying out the medium and providing fungicide protection.
